Hemolytic anemia is bone marrow disorder in which its activity cannot compensate for the erythrocyte loss leading to anemia.

Examples of conditions that may cause hemolytic anemia include:

  • Hereditary spherocytosis
  • Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency
  • Hemolytic anemia due to red blood cell trauma
  • Immunohemolytic anemia
  • Paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria
  • Sickle cell disease
  • Thalassemia syndromes
