Secondary adrenocortical insufficiency is characterized by too little ACTH that can lead to too little of the glucocorticoids and androgens. 

Examples of Secondary Adrenocortical Insufficiency include: 

  • Decreased ACTH due to CNS disorder
  • Waterhouse-Friederichsen syndrome
